Dog feeders

Dog feedersIf you are like most people, you believe that your pet is just another member of the family. This belief especially holds true for dogs. So, having said this, what kind of dog feeders do you use for your dog?

Would you take a bowl of food and place it on the floor for your children to eat from? Probably not. Therefore, why do you do the same for your dog? You may have good reasons for this, but there are other options available as well.

The good news now is that you don’t have to put your dog’s food on the floor if you don’t want to. Because there are now a variety of feeders that you can use, your dogs can eat in style. Or, if not in style, at least in comfort.

• Automatic – These kinds of feeders are nice because they give your dog exactly what he needs, when he needs it. For example, when your dog eats, this feeder continues to dispense food and water as he eats and drinks. Once he finishes eating or drinking, the feeder stops as well.

This is a great thing to have if you plan on being out of town for a day or two or simply if you do not have time to feed your dog.

• Dishes – Dishes are the traditional way that most people feed their pets. However, that doesn’t mean that the way you use these dishes can’t be improved. Some dishes are dangerous for your pets because of different kinds of bacteria that can stick to it. In order to minimize your dog’s risk of getting sick, you should use stainless bowls.

The worst kinds of dishes to use are often those that are made of plastic or that include dyes.

• Portable dishes – These kinds of dishes are designed for you to be able to take on the road with you without having to worry about it making a mess. Often these dishes have a waterproof lining and fold flat to prevent spilling.

If you are the type of person who travels a lot and loves to take your dog with you, having one of these can only help in making your travel easier.

• Elevated feeders – These kinds of feeders are very popular among those who have back problems –dogs and humans alike. Because it is elevated, humans don’t need to bend over to pick up and put down the dishes. Likewise, dogs with back problems also do not have to do the same.

Also, dogs who have problems swallowing can be aided in this because elevated feeders help the dog avoid having to lower its head and neck so much.

You may think that more than one of these kinds of dog feeders may be best for your pet. If this is true, you certainly can use more than one kind.
